Dotnuva, 17 June, 1938 Friday, the eve of the Holy Sabbath, Behaalotecha 5698

My beloved children Freida and Avraham!
How are you my dear? It's been a long time since we wrote you a letter, and it's a great injustice on our part. We just don't have any news, we live this way from day to day, and in this manner the weeks pass.
The main thing that I ask of you children is that you won't pay us back. Write us letters often, we eagerly wait for your letters.
Moshe isn't at home, he's in Kovna today. He will come home after the Sabbath. This year he probably wouldn't travel to Flunga. Maybe he would go for a little rest in Barer? Forest. What do you think children? Are you going somewhere to rest during your vacation? Write us everything. You've been married for almost a year. Have you organized your life a little better?
We understand very well that it's difficult to organize your life in this period of crisis, but we have to hope for better times. “All the beginnings are difficult.”
Freidale! Do you still have a job? How are you doing? Does Avraham have the time to study so he could finish his professional studies? We hope that all goes well.
Thank God, we received letters from Eretz-Yisrael, they are healthy and happy. May we only have peace and tranquility, and an end will come to all the conflicts there. God willing, it will be good. Thank God, all of us are healthy.
Mother, Miriam and Pessie are busy with the preparations for the Sabbath. Exactly today our maid didn't come, so they have to wash the floorboards by themselves. They will also write you if they'll have the time, if not, they would write next time.

We received your letter that you were thinking of traveling to Washington. You probably visited my brother's children. I want to know about them. How is their mother, the wife of my late brother? I think that there's nothing to ask about my sister Elke. Write me about her children and about everything that had happened.
