The organization was established when all the former residents of our city living in Israel gathered during the Pesach (Passover) holiday in 1961, at the initiative of Moshe Belivsky, Itzhak Levin, Reuven Yamnik, in Mr. Belivsky's home. It was proposed to memorialize our loved ones, victims of the Holocaust, by erecting a memorial plaque in the Chamber of the Holocaust museum on Har Zion in Jerusalem. The members eagerly approved the proposal. A committee was established, and its members were Belivsky, Yamnik, Levin, Motkov, Schwitzer and Leah Pnini-Zemelman. Large sums of money were donated to achieve this goal by all our city's former residents: both those living in Israel and those the diaspora.

Former Przedecz resident in the Chamber of the Holocaust at the unveiling of the plaque dedicated to our city's victims |
On Holocaust Memorial Day, on May 18, 1963, 6 Iyar, 5724, all the former residents of our city living in Israel gathered in Jerusalem. A memorial ceremony was held in the Yad Vashem Memorial Hall on Har HaZicharon (now Mount Herzl). A memorial candle was lit and we recited psalms and the kaddish; El Maleh HaRachamim was sung by a cantor for the souls of Przedecz.
We laid a wreath on the symbolic grave there. We later went to Har Zion, where the Chamber of the Holocaust was located, to unveil the memorial wall. Here too, a ceremony was held with the cantor, candles were lit for the memory of the victims, and eulogies were recited by those present. Afternoon prayers were recited, as was the kaddish for the memory of their souls. We then walked to the memorial dedicated to the heroism of fighters in the Warsaw Ghetto. When the event was over, we were all invited to the Brand family's home.

There, members proposed to continue the memorial efforts by publishing a memorial book. On the spot, the first donations were made for this goal.
Every year, on Holocaust Memorial Day, we gather and hold a memorial evening in Tel Aviv, with all the former residents of our city and other former residents who reside abroad. A memorial ceremony, eulogies, Yizkor and El Maleh HaRachamim are recited by the cantor. The participants also recite psalms and a general Kaddish is held for all the victims.
With the book's publishing, we continued to discuss the memorial for our loved ones who perished in the Holocaust. May their souls be bound in the bundle of life.
