In Yiddish, Marevyanke A village near Kaunas, which subsequently became a suburb of Kaunas. In 1877, the village had 970 residents. Jews lived in Marveleprior to WWI and also during the period of Independent Lithuania. At that time, they owned farms in the village. During the period of German occupation of Lithuania (1941-1944), the fate of the Jews of Marvele was the same as the fate of the Jews of Kaunas.
