A county town, 15 km northeast of the district city of Kaunas. In 1923, the town had 130 non-Jewish residents and among them lived 12 Jews. In June, 1941, when Germany conquered Lithuania, the fate of the Jews of Turzenai was the same as the fate of the Jews in the surrounding areas.
