In Yiddish, Vishevyan A village, 7 km southeast of the district city of Telsiai. A few Jewish families lived in Viesvenai before WWI and also during the period of Independent Lithuania. They made their living mainly from agriculture. When Germany conquered Lithuania, the Jews of Viesvenai and the surrounding area were taken to the Viesvenai estate, and most of them were murdered there.
