Deltuva

Written by Josef Rosin

Translated by Shaul Yannai

(Yiddish, Develtov)

A village, 6 km west of Vilkomir, the district's city.

Several Jewish families resided there during the second half of the 19th century. In 1872, the scholar and author, Dr. Isar Ginsburg (who passed away in New York in 1947) was born in Deltuva. According to the 1931 Lithuanian census, Jews owned a wool carder factory in the village. When Lithuania was conquered by the Germans, the fate of the Jews of Deltuva was the same as the fate of the other Jews in the area.
