Search the Archive

Browse the VM archive to view user-generated images of Jewish historical subjects, documents, culture and places, up close. A new response feature now allows you to add your response to those older, often unanswered archived images. Please respond with relevant information when you can. Here's how. Sort the first column (VM ID) by clicking on the column title for the oldest or the latest images. Select an image. Next click "Add Response".

Alternatively, narrow your search by clicking "Search Archive," above, and type specific search terms.

Your input deserves our thanks and praise, for it may help a Gen'er in new and rewarding ways.
Countless unnamed and dedicated volunteers from across the globe deserve our gratitude. They freely offer their time and skills responding to ViewMate requests. Giving to others will come back to them.

Note: Viewmate's first saved image is #227.

To sort by a column, click the column title. Then click the sort icon [D] to reverse the order.
You will be able to view responses online if available. Items will open in a new browser window.

9/15/2024 1:20 PM Would you confirm this revision list shows Mikhel, son of Shmul, Aynvarg; Mikhel's son Srul; and Mikhel's brother Leybko? I presume it's saying Srul was not yet born in 1850. What happened to Leybko in I think 1851, which explains why he's not accounted for in the last column of the revision list? View the post with its 1 response

9/15/2024 1:20 PM I believe this lists Shmul, son of Mikhel, Geynvarg; Mikhel, son of Shmul, and Leybko, son of Shmul. Please confirm. Does it say Shmul died in 1840? Realizing it's hard to read, what happened to Leybko in 1850, which would explain why he's not being accounted for in last column of the revision list? View the post with its 1 response
