Information Question
Category: Photo Identification
Country: Russia
Town: Luga?
Date of Image: 1890s/early 1900s
Trying to identify this person. Found in a box of family photos. It's unlabeled, as are several other group photos she appears in. It appears to date from the 1890s/early 1900s. The caption translates as 'Photographer V Zemliansky (left and center), G Luga (upper right), Nikolskaya St 12 (lower right)". Nikolskaya St 12 was part of the Orlov Davydov apartments in Moscow, which had shops at street level. I believe the photographer had a studio there. The photographer was also known for a series of portraits taken in Luga, a resort town 87 miles south of St. Petersburg.

None of my family lived in Moscow. My maternal side came from Latvia while my paternal side came from Lithuania (both during the Russian Empire) and emigrated to the US before 1900. There were family members that stayed, but I have limited info about them. Luga is considerably closer to both Latvia and Lithuania than Moscow, so I suspect the portrait was taken there.
