Information Question
Category: Translation - German   Birthplaces, 1897 NY birth certificate (German script)
Please read the birthplace word in this crop: Tzak Hei, b. Mar 3 1897, 55 Pitt St, Manhattan, cert 11538. Father Jozef Hei, 34, baker; mother Rybeca Anker, 29. My tentative reading is 'Bozerzan' — please read fresh, letter by letter. Is the 'x'-like letter actually 'z'? Does it match a town in former Austrian Galicia (Tarnopol/Brzezany area)? Father's birthplace, on a second image to follow, reads tentatively 'Koxgwy'. Family later Brooklyn as Joseph/Rebecca Heigh; no town confirmed yet.
