10/26/2026 2:06 AM Just for your information:

In standard vital records analysis and transcription frameworks, the section codes refer to specific clauses and structural blocks within the formal civil act:

* **P1, P2, etc. (P = Preamble / Procedural Clauses)**
* **P1**: The opening date, time, and civil registrar's declaration (e.g., Szymon Dobracki appearing as *Urzędnik Stanu Cywilnego*).
* **P2**: Administrative procedures, such as the presentation of preliminary certificates or consent documents (e.g., the *Akt Assanowania* / Act of Respect).
* **D1, D2, D3, etc. (D = Declarants / Principal Subjects)**
* **D1**: The Groom (e.g., Abraham Michał Faybusz).
* **D2 / D3**: The Groom's Father and Mother (e.g., Michał Faybusz and Dwojra z Jakobów).
* **D4**: The Bride (e.g., Kajle Sonabend).
* **D5**: The Bride's Father/Mother (e.g., Hersz Czerwonicz).
* **W1, W2, W3, etc. (W = Witnesses / Signatories)**
* The witnesses who present the parties, attest to the marriage, or sign the document at the bottom/margins.

DXM comment: This document 1809 overlaps with the start of Napoleonic era formats adopted in Duchy of Warsaw and is not quite "standard"....

**Why did they seem different than expected?**

1. **Embedded / Nested Documents**: In standard Napoleonic acts, the bride and groom appear directly. In this 1809 Lipno act, because the groom had an *Akt Assanowania* (a separate act of consent/military clearance), the scribe inserted references to that extra document right inside the groom's entry, blending the **P** (procedural) and **D** (declarant) clauses together.

2. **Margin Signatures**: Instead of having all signatures neatly in one final block at the bottom, several signatures (including the parallel Hebrew signatures) were written along the left and bottom margins, which created additional signature/witness rows (**W3–W6**) beyond the two primary witnesses named in the main body text.

well I thought that was interesting !!
