On  Response
10/7/2026 4:58 AM Hi a limited response to your questions

I am testing AI routines and in particular reviewing accuracy (or otherwise) of name transcriptions from handwritten pre 1917 Russian cursive script and I took the liberty of using your image (I hope you don't mind):

Since I have "done" it ..I thought I would share..(at least the non technical bits)

FYI the AI did 2 passes

1) tested whether the names you gave were in the document and then extracted from document; It converted handwritten pre 1917 script in the ledger to pre 1917 Russian Block capital Letters. Imagine a Russian clerk in 1874 typing up the written names.

2) A blind test to find names based on role and similarly extract from document. There were various checks to prevent confirmation bias etc and hallucinations ie pulling in of random unrelated data from memory totally unrelated to the document

Bear in mind what the clerk wrote in russian in the ledger was his interpretation of what the declarant had said (in yiddish, polish, russian) and it had to conform with prevailing imperial naming standards. I will let you work out what the declarant actually said...

### 1. Extracted Names (Pre-1917 Russian Block Capitals)

Below are the exact character-by-character transcriptions of the Groom and Bride names as written in the document text:

* **GROOM (Groom's Given Name & Family Name)**:
* Given Name: **ГИЛЯРІЙ** (or **ГИЛЯРIЙ**)
* Surname: **ВАЙНРАЙХЪ**
* *Contextual record details*: Son of Abron/Avrum (Абронъ) and Fajna born Mencion (Файна урожденная Менціонъ).

* **BRIDE (Bride's Given Name & Family Name)**:
* Given Name: **МАРІЯ** (or **МАРIЯ**)
* Surname: **ГОЛЬДШТАЙНЪ**
* *Contextual record details*: Daughter of deceased Szymon (Шимонъ) and Laja born Szpero (Лая урожденная Шперо).

### 1. Transcribed Names (Pre-1917 Russian Block Capitals)

The cursive text inflects names according to Russian grammatical declension (Instrumental case after `между` / `съ`). The character-by-character transcription below reflects the exact names in both their **as-written inflected block form** and their **nominative dictionary block form**:

#### **GROOM**

* **As Written in Text (Instrumental Case)**:
* Given Name: **ГИЛЯРІЕМЪ** (or **ГИЛЯРIЕМЪ**)
* Family Name: **ВАЙНРАЙХОМЪ**
* **Nominative Base Form (Pre-1917 Block Capitals)**:
* Given Name: **ГИЛЯРІЙ**
* Family Name: **ВАЙНРАЙХЪ**

#### **BRIDE**

* **As Written in Text (Instrumental Case)**:
* Given Name: **МАРІЕЮ** (or **МАРIЕЮ**)
* Family Name: **ГОЛЬДШТАЙНЪ**
* **Nominative Base Form (Pre-1917 Block Capitals)**:
* Given Name: **МАРІЯ**
* Family Name: **ГОЛЬДШТАЙНЪ**
