Dear Bella,
I received your letter & was very glad to hear from you. I received the slippers, for which I thank you very much. They fit splendid. I am sorry that Annie is not well, but I hope that she is better by now, let me know as soon as possible how she is getting on.
I am sorry I have no chance of seeing the little one, but I daresay it will be a treat to see her, please God I return. I am glad to hear that are all going to Mossel Bay. I hope you will all enjoy yourselves. You ask me how I like to be an Uncle, why its quite a treat.
About payment for music lessons I don’t know exactly what I’ll have to pay, but will let you know later. Tomorrow I’ll go & get the articles you asked me for & also the music for Sam. Tell Pa I went to Eaton Robins for a Macintosh but they did not have any to fit me, & I asked at Cleg & Harris, but they don’t keep any in stock. By the same post I am sending Annie the stuff she asked me for.
I am sorry to say that my finger is beginning to annoy me very much. Please God as soon as I return I’ll have it attended to. I wrote Pa a letter but did not receive any answer. How is it? No more news at present,
With best Love
I remain
Your loving Brother
Lazarus
P.S. Best Love to Ma, Pa, Annie, Nurick, Harry, Moses, Sam, Minnie, Max, Manuel, Simon, Sarah, Ethel & my new niece.
The Mexican is now in the Dry Docks for repairs. She met with a great accident. I went down to see it. It’s a lovely Steamer.
