THE EPSTEINS OF BOBROISK:
IN ISRAEL: THE LORIG FAMILY: THE WERTHEIMER FAMILY OF GEMMINGEN: EDITORS' NOTE - August 2014 This issue includes four stories of success. While JewishGen’s Family Finder plays a key role in two of the stories, our researchers also made use of other helpful resources, discovering their families in Belarus, Germany, Israel, and the United States. Marsha Epstein connects with a cousin from an unknown branch of her family after posting the family name on JewishGen’s Family Finder database. Marla Raucher Osborn continues her quest to learn about her great-grand-aunt Jüte Horn, and her husband Chaim Teichman, by traveling to Israel and following in their footsteps. Wendy Werner finds a postcard of a World War I soldier in a box of her grandmother’s old photographs. Her curiosity about this soldier leads her to learn his fate and connect with previously unknown family in Israel. Lowell N. Halpern posts the names of his great-great-grandparents on JewishGen’s Family Finder and a week later hears from a woman who shares the same great-great-grandparents. Together they are able to account for common relatives back to 1739. We hope these stories inspire you to use JewishGen’s many resources, supporting you in your efforts to expand your knowledge and connect with family. We wish you success and encourage you to send us your stories. Nancy Siegel, Editor Anna Blanchard, Webmaster
