Jewish Life
Since the times of Rech Pospolitaya local Jews were famous for horse thieving.
In 1898 SHCHUR Movsha son of Itsko was a Jewish Deputy of the Shtetle Petty-Bourgeois Administration.
By 1900 there were 2 praying houses in Samokhvalovichi.
Economical Review.
Traditional activities of local Jewish population were trade with timber, grain and vodka and growing of vegetables. Since early time Ptych river was a main road for Samokhvalovichi habitants.
During Russian principality, vodka trade was under state hard control and became less popular among Jewish businessmen. But Russian authorities did a lot to develop the region because of military and fiscal reasons mostly. First of all, old communications were reconstructed there:
trade road Minsk - Slutsk.
In XIX, because of development of the AllRussian Market, new types of communications appeared in the region.
In 1888 in Samokhvalovichi there was a mill. The closest railway station and post office were in Fanipol (Moscow - Brest railroad, 10 km).
Also, in the end of XIX century the dirt road from Minsk to Stankovo (Count Chapsky residence) was built.

It seems, that there were no any big enough businesses in Samokhvalovichi before 1917.
General cultural information.
In beg. XX century in Samokhvalovichi there were:
- the wooden Orthodox Church of St. Spirit, built by Radzivills and renovated in 1868;
- a public primary school.
The closest doctor, post office and synagogue were in Minsk (15 km).
