Jewish Life
In 1842, after had got the permission to live in rural area and to work on land, some Jewish families from that area mostly, bought some land and rented it from landlord Obrampalsky and moved there. The colony was settled finally by 1846. That time there were 20 families there.
In 1895 there were 114 Jewish peasants in Nedvezhino, who rented for money about 207 hectares of land. Except of them some local Jews were officially busy in non-agricultural sphere: trade and business. But in fact since at least 1880s agricultural activity became not too popular among Nedvezhino Jews, majority of them returned to traditional life of local Jews: business and trade, their agricultural activity was secondary to them.
In the end XIX - early XX century there were 2 praying houses in Nedvezhino.
Economical Review.
Traditional activities of local population were agriculture and chopping of wood. That settlement was out of any trade ways and was not interesting for non-agricultural matters.
During Russian principality the authorities did a lot to develop the region because of military and fiscal reasons mostly. But Nedvezhino itself was a private agricultural settlement, as many other ones in the locality, and the authorities saw no reason to change or develop anything new there.
In XIX, because of development of the AllRussian Market, new types of communications appeared in the area in 1871. Construction of the railroad and highways provoked new increase of development of local settlements. But it did not effect seriously on the development of Nedvezhino, because it was small agricultural settlement. That was why it took long enough time to involve local habitants in market economy environment even in small extent. So, despite of it was not too popular and profitable to work in agriculture, local Jews continued to do it to support their living conditions.
Since 1871 to 1917 the closest railway station was 3 km afar from the Village in Minsk.
In 1885 there were 18 wooden houses in Nedvezhino.
In the early XX century there were several small Jewish brick factories, which sold bricks to Minsk and other places. A price of 1000 of such bricks was about 12 roubles. The technology was primitive, and the business was far from giving much interest.
In 1905 there were 32 wooden houses in Nedvezhino, in 1917 30 ones.
General cultural information.
In the end XX - beg. XX century in Nedvezhino there were nothing special. Closest doctor, synagogue and post office were 3 km afar in Minsk.
