August 15, 2018 -- JewishGen.org, the largest digital repository for Jewish family history information in the world, and a proud member of the Museum of Jewish Heritage - A Living Memorial to the Holocaust family, in cooperation with Miriam Weiner and the Routes to Roots Foundation, is pleased to announce the launch of the Miriam Weiner: Routes To Roots Collection
This new resource will provide researchers throughout the world with access to thousands of heretofore unavailable Jewish family records, name lists, archive inventories, maps and photographs from archives in Poland, Moldova, Ukraine, Lithuania, Belarus, and Romania.
Avraham Groll, Director of JewishGen.org said: “So much of what we take for granted is due to Miriam’s exhaustive efforts, and the relationships she established in the archives of Eastern Europe during a career spanning more than four decades. We are honored, and take very seriously, the legacy we are tasked with preserving, and hope that this collection will further spread Miriam’s important work, and that each new family connection that occurs as a result of this material will serve an everlasting tribute to her unyielding devotion and dedication to the Jewish people.”
Miriam Weiner, President of the Routes to Roots Foundation, said: “It is with great joy and enthusiasm that I join in this announcement regarding the contribution of material that I have gathered and preserved from Eastern Europe during the past thirty years. I am honored and feel great peace of mind knowing that the material will become available worldwide via JewishGen.org and the Museum of Jewish Heritage.
JewishGen’s Miriam Weiner: Routes To Roots Collection already contains a treasure trove of information, and new material will be added on an ongoing basis.
