(The congregation is considered part of the "North Manchester" Jewish community.)

Former Address:

190 Cheetham Hill Road, Manchester M8 8LW(i) (From 1873/4 until 1983).  (The first Sephardi synagogue in the UK built outside London.)

 The building was designated a Grade II* Listed Building (number 1208472) on 3 October 1974 (most recent amendment 6 June 1994). View description on Historic England website.

In 1984, the building reopened as the Manchester Jewish Museum. (Website: http://www.manchesterjewishmuseum.com)

The congregation used temporary premises at 78 York Street, Cheetham, until the above building was ready for use in 1874.

Kersal is in Salford, in the metropolitan borough of the City of Salford, within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester (which no longer has any administrative powers).

Prior to its move to Moor Lane, the congregation was in the metropolitan borough of the City of Manchester, within the metropolitan county of Greater Manchester.

From 1889 to 1974, both the Cities of Manchester and Salford were county boroughs  (unitary authorities) geographically (although not administratively) within the county of Lancashire.

Cemetery Information:
