Dues and Donations

Dues

At this time the German Jewish SIG does not have a dues structure.  Members are asked to make donations, both to JewishGen and to the German Jewish SIG.

Donations

In order to carry out the most basic functions of the SIG -- the acquisition, translation, and entry of data into our internet database -- there are many technical, organizational, and administrative expenses.  Even in an internet world, it costs money to communicate internationally, to photocopy, to scan, and store records, and to translate documents.  Until we identify and agree on specific projects to work on in the coming year, we will not be able to develop a specific budget for the German Jewish SIG.  However, for those who have the resources, we would appreciate a contribution of $100.  If that amount is beyond your comfort level, we would be pleased with whatever you can provide as an indication of your support for our activities.  Please contribute, either by:

  • check payable to JewishGen/German Jewish SIG and mailing it to JewishGen, Inc., 36 Battery Place, New York, NY 10280 or

  • credit card through JewishGen-erosity.

Because of a generous grant from an anonymous donor, JewishGen is able to provide administrative assistance, as well as a home for the German Jewish SIG listserver (mailing list) and for our future Web page and searchable databases. We all benefit from the efforts of the JewishGen organization and the services it provides. Therefore, each and everyone one of our SIG members is strongly encouraged to make undesignated donations to JewishGen, in addition to the donations to the German Jewish SIG.

JewishGen, Inc. is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) organization. Contributions to JewishGen are tax-deductible in the US according to law for both designated (to German Jewish SIG) and undesignated donations.
