in Buchenwald in 1939 Before WWII

by Peter Lande

INTRODUCTION

Zev Rebhun of Kibbutz Lavi in Israel has devoted considerable time and effort in an attempt to document all Polish Jews resident in Germany who were murdered in the Holocaust prior to the outbreak of World War II. One part of his collected material consists of a list of 864 Polish men, Jews and non-Jews, who died in concentration camp Buchenwald in 1939.

The fields included in this list are as follows:

Family Name
Personal (given) Name
Date of Birth
Place of Birth
Place from which the Person was Deported to Buchenwald
Date of Death

Where a field is left blank it is because no information was provided. () indicates that a name of a person or place was illegible. The only information not included is cause of death, e.g. heart attack, lung infection, etc.

The original data was collected at the Buchenwald Museum. The lists are held by Mr. Rebhuhn and Peter Lande.
