The objective of the Suceava Vital Records Project is to acquire legible images of birth, marriage, and death records of Jewish families from Suceava county in Romania. The records are in German or in Latin. Volunteers from JewishGen's Romania Special Interest Group (ROM-SIG) will transcribe the records, which will be then be incorporated into the “JewishGen Romania Database” at http://www.jewishgen.org/databases/Romania.
The records are in books that are kept in the National Archives of Romania (Arhivele Naţionale ale României) located in Suceava.
The records have already been photographed, and will be sent to us when we have raised the money to purchase them.
The following is a list of the records that we would like to obtain. At an average cost of about $28.75 per book, including bank transfer fees and micellaneous expenses.
The total cost of the project is estimated to be $1,295.00. Work will performed in phases, as the funds are raised through donations to the “JewishGen ROM-SIG Suceava Vital Records Project” account.
Total: 45 registers, about 4,700 images, with 10-12 records per page.
